Posting Guidelines

  • WIA is for Wisconsin incidents only, and incidents involving WI departments on mutual aid calls over the state line.
  • Please read our group rules, and save a copy.
  • All members can post, When posting keep in mind that  Firefighters, EMS, Red Cross, Fire Bell, Fire Buffs, Law Enforcement, Media, Photographers, Scanner & Amateur Radio Hobbyist will be reading your message.
  • Post only incidents that are CONFIRMED by on scene Fire or Police units, Which of course means don't post anything you heard dispatched until on scene unit calls into the Dispatcher and reports what they have.
  • Post only major incidents, the type of incidents you might see on TV news, read about in the paper or would be worth while for members to monitor.
  • In the subject line remember to include the City, Incident type and time.
    (Subject: Milwaukee House Fire 3:15pm)
  • If your posting using wireless device, don't worry about the subject line, most devices don't have that feature.
  • For the message always try to include the address or in the area of, if you post without the address please send out a update if you ever do learn location. Include any info you have about the incident, a short message is ok too "Working fire in 2 story dwelling" Please don't do a play by play when posting, do the first in report and any important updates. No need to post things like units arriving on scene or FD requesting PD to shut down streets.
  • Remember to include the frequencies or talkgroups being used, or at least the Ch number or name so others in the group can monitor the action on scanners or department radios.
  • Do not give the address of SWAT situations, you can mention just what side of the city or district its
in. Never give SWAT officer locations, what they can see or what they are about to do. You can mention SWAT location after suspect is in custody.
  • This is NOT a Chit Chat or question and answer group, It's for posting CONFIRMED Incidents and updates only. If you have final update info try to post it no later then 1 hour after the original post, anything after that can be posted in the WIA side group WIA2 http://groups.google.com/group/WIA2
